Employee Self Services (ESS)

Simplify and standardize HR processes

Using Employee Self-Service (ESS), employees maintain their personal information and they control many administrative transactions and other processes normally handled by the Human Resources staff. The goal is to streamline approval processes and tasks like viewing vacation time, or choosing benefits. SAP ESS not only grants better access to personal data, it also informs employees of changes in life and work events by integrating applications with support information.

An employee is the heart of the workforce. Employees range from workers on an assembly line, to knowledge workers in the information economy, to managers and executives. Employees are responsible for ensuring that their data is correct and complete. This is necessary to guarantee that internal business processes run smoothly.

ESS includes the following:

Time management

  • Employees can record hours worked, display work schedules, submit leave requests, and receive approvals.

Business travel and expense management

  • Employees can manage all aspects of business travel and expenses, from planning trips to creating expense reports.

Payment administration

  • Employees can handle issues related to salary, such as salary verfication and compensation statements.

Skills and appraisals maintenance

  • Employees can access a qualifications profile, maintain a skills database, and view recommendations for skills enhancement.

Corporate learning management

  • Employees can review training schedules, sign up for training and receive training approval.

Internal recruiting management

  • Employees can view job openings within the company, create application materials, apply for a position, and check the status of pending applications.

Personal information management

  • Employees can view, enter, and update personal information, such as address, dependents, emergency contact, tax withholding, and bank data.

Corporate information management

  • Employees can learn about HR services and support, access company contact directories, view organization charts and quality guidelines, and electronically sign forms such as company code of conduct.

Purchasing

  • Employees can purchase goods and services required for maintenance, repair and operations (MRO). They can create a requisition, confirm receipt of goods and services, and approve an invoice for payment.

The SAP Employee Self-Service application enables employee self-services. The application is available in 28 languages for more than 32 countries.
